32 different ideas that you can get your school involved with your community.  Most of the items are fairly simple and there are helpful forms in the Community Service section.  Have a group of students in charge of one project each week and you will keep your students busy during the whole year.
If you have a group of students wanting to plan an event that hasn’t been done before, or you just want to keep track of an existing project this form will be very helpful.  Make sure that you get administrative (and district if necessary) for any new projects that haven’t been done in the past.
For many schools the winter months seem to be the “slow” season for activities.  This can be a great opportunity to get your students motivated about community service.  Homecoming is over and graduation isn’t quite here so get your seniors and juniors some last minute community service before they head off for college.
24 more service projects that can help get the students at your school involved in the community.  Remember to spread the word and let your local newspaper know about the projects that you are working on.  This is great publicity for your school and will give community members the opportunity to participate and help.
“I used to wonder why somebody didn’t do something.  Then I realized....I’m somebody.”  There are several different ways to help your school and community beyond some of the traditional service projects.  Use this download to help focus your students on the importance of what they do every day.
Every school should have a pride day where students and staff have an opportunity to clean up the whole campus.  Meet with your administrators and head custodian to find out what areas need the most help and then start generating interest through clubs and organizations.
In order to keep costs down it is important to reach out to the community business leaders and the city or county in order to acquire all of the necessary materials.  Here is a sample letter to help you in your quest to get all the help you need.  It is important to hand deliver whenever possible for the greatest response.
If you are awarding community service hours or keeping track as part of a club competition you will need a detailed log in for students to check in at the event.   Use this as a sample, but be sure to add a part where an advisor or supervisor can sign off on the accuracy of the log in sheet.
It is very important to have a list of all the areas that need to be worked on and the materials needed for the job prior to the event.  You do not want 100 students showing up on a Saturday and then start figuring out what needs to be done.  Prioritize a list similar to this one to determine what needs to get done first and then start on those projects as volunteers show up.  Try to have all of the supplies in one central location to make it easier for distribution and to answer the inevitable questions.

Try to take on this project a week or two prior to graduation in order to make the campus beautiful for the ceremony.
